The Threshold Crucible
Outliers who possess exceptional levels of courage have all undergone their own version of the threshold crucible. They have pushed the boat out far beyond what people speak of or write in books, for most outliers have innate primordial-levels of entropic tolerance and violent curiosities that render pre-existing touted “thresholds” null and void, given their true thresholds are often well beyond what others believe to be thresholds.
However, what is often not said is that they eventually reach the edge of what they would define as an edge, their true threshold - and at this point they are almost in a numbed and disembodied state from having been so relentless in their pursuit that there is no longer a purpose for their actions beyond discovering this threshold. Yet it is at this very point that they intuit the finality of breaching their own threshold - the knowing that they are in the very jaws of death, one which they will not be able to return from.
It is at this moment that, despite possessing full confidence in their ability to rip themselves back from most setbacks, they viscerally feel a quiet yet indomitable still voice telling them to turn back. And it is precisely here, having met their truth with sovereign sober acknowledgement, that their true threshold settles into a personal sense of resolute conviction. A peg is set down, and respected.

There comes a point where the soul debt created festers exponentially on the road back, and knowing when to cease becomes a form of wisdom in itself.
