The Only Way Is Through
People often misinterpret the inability to cope with high levels of stress as apathy. When someone is overwhelmed by chronic stress, procrastination frequently takes hold, accompanied by a loss of focus. In cases of extreme stress or trauma, the brain may even visualise scenarios of death or harm as a psychological response - an attempt to quickly relieve the stress. To manage the looming burden, most tend to dissociate to some extent. This creates a paradox - you are aware that you're avoiding what you ought to be doing, yet in your evasion, you deceive yourself without fully believing the lie. This internal conflict fosters a state akin to apathy.
The way forward lies not in avoidance, but in action. Run towards that which causes you stress. The only way is through.
Once immediate stressors have been addressed, allow yourself time to rest and recalibrate. This phase often signifies the necessity to consciously disengage from autopilot and to critically assess the trajectory you are on.
