Creativity for me seems not so much a cleansing to keep out the things that don't serve me well as a need to make, build, create, imagine something that hasn't existed before. The environment gives lots of material from which to draw for this process. Many of the environmental influences are negative, that is they don't sit right with my soul. Now my soul is out of kilter.
